Shaukat Jamil About Kamran Faisal Case

Pakistan is a curious country. Every now and then an eerie thing will happen
that will remain unresolved despite everybody yelling blue murder. Take my
words. Mafia in uniform (MIU) is invariably behind all such crimes. It looks
Kamran Faisal s death/ murder is another episode in the whodunit calculated
to bring PPP leadership under a slur to give some mileage to the opposing
forces in the coming elections. The failure of Qadri s mission has put the
mockers on MIU s ambition to accede to power by proxy but has not dented
their resolve to oust PPP which otherwise looks all set to return to power.
No party is good enough to return with majority in the coming elections and
    > there will be coalition in the centre after the next elections. Only PPP has
coalition partners besides, the capacity to run a coalition. MIU is trying
to forge a coalition in Sindh under Pagara against PPP. It looks MIU has
dumped Imran and Qadri and now turning once again to Nawaz to depose PPP.
It would be premature to prognosticate the outcome of the next election at> this point of time so we should keep our fingers crossed.
Now coming to Kamran s death, the post-mortem report must have indicated
whether the death was caused by hanging. But the report emanating through
media bespeaks that no signs of violence were found on his body. So either
he died of natural death or was poisoned. Let the final report come and the
dust would settle down. The CJ has ordered the separation of the rental case
and death case which is is not proper as it is one case Iftikhar Chauhdry
once again wants to cut a caper by railroading another PM.at the behest of
MIU. MIU instituted the case against Arsalan to intimidate Iftikhar
Chauhdry. After a deal was struck the case was put on the back burner. Now
after the deal Iftikhar Chauhdry is a putty in MIU s hand. The sole purpose
of separating the two cases is to embarrass PM and PPP and with gutter media
at the beck and call to kick up dust she figures that some dividend can be
earned by mudslinging, in the next elections. In this way she wants to keep
the smear campaign against PPP which has started losing momentum in the
aftermath of Swiss Letter and Memo Scandal, going.
Now a few words on Rental Scandal. To address outage pronto the govt decided
on Rentals. But MIU who is after PPP s blood could not in any way, allow any
govt. policy to succeed. Her stock-in-trade to stall all govt activity is
the cry of corruption. We have been hearing a chorus of PPP s corruption
for the last almost a quarter of century with long incarcerations of Mard-e-
Hur but the bottom line is a big zero. However, not a soul has stirred at
the broad daylight plunder by MIU and her minions. Asghar Khan s case is the
    tip of the iceberg.
So the govt. knew beforehand that she will have to face the cases pertaining
to rentals in the kangaroo courts. Consequently, the govt. before issuing
acceptance to the qualifying bids sent them to Asian Development Bank for
scrutiny to ensure that the bidding process was at par with international
standards as a precautionary safeguard. The Bank found five out of the six
bids at par but detected some shortcomings in the sixth. So the govt
accorded approval to the five bids but rejected the sixth. So there was no
hanky-panky in the award of the Rental Contracts. But the contractors did
not start the work as there was great cry of corruption let loose at the
instance of MIU. MIU did not want the work to be done as ending of outage
would have ensured PPP s return to power which was not acceptable to MIU at
    any rate.
When the contractors did not start the work the govt. forfeited their
earnest moneys and called upon them to return the mobilization advance given
to them for the execution of works. The contractors refused to return the
Advance saying that they wanted to do the work in earnest but the political
milieu of the country was not conducive to it So they were rendered
incapable of starting the works by the force of circumstance and deserved
    their money s return.
While the hassle between the govt. and the contractors was on CJ took suo
moto of the issue and ordered the contractors to return the Advance and file
a separate case for the return of earnest moneys. It is the return of this
advance that Iftikhar Chauhdry is making a song and dance about as having
got returned the looted money to the got. Obviously Iftikhar Chauhdry is not
    > so naive as not to know the difference between an advance and the payment so
the entire proceedings are motivated as was in case of Gillani.
Let us examine the significance of Kamran s death. Kamran s arm was twisted
to file a bogus chalan against the PM in rental case in the SC. When the NAB
chairman asked him to show proof, he could not because non existed. Now
Kamran was caught between devil and deep sea i.e. between his boss and MIU.
He could not run the gauntlet of either of the two which might have forced
him to commit suicide. But the murder cannot be ruled out. If it is a
murder I do not have to tell anybody who did it.
But whether it is murder or death, it will be fully used in PPP bashing.
