ISLAMABAD: Kamal Mehsud, the famous Pashtu Music legend belonging to Waziristan passes away in PIMS hospital in Islamabad.

Kamal Mehsud died because of his skin burn injuries. He got these injuries last Saturday when he entered a room in his house in E-11 Islamabad in an attempt to light a candle. Because there was no light at that time due to load shedding. He caught fire because of gas leakage in the room. Fifty percent of his body was burnt according to the medical report of PIMS. His soul left his body today as he succumbed to the deep burn injuries. So load shedding in the federal area of Islamadad is responsible for the death this Pashtun legend.

Kamal Mehsud was laid to rest in the tomb of H-11 sector of Islamabad.

Kamal Mehsud was a leading Pashto folk singer, who left South Waziristan for two years ago because of growing intolerance & settled in Islamabad. He is well known for singing folk songs on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

He sold his ancestral property in Tank district and kept on moving from place to place in the hope of finding a niche. “Constant suppression of artistes suffocated me, and I felt like leaving the place. Besides, lawlessness has brought with it fear and frustration,” said Kamal Mehsud once when he was alive.

The singer was motivated by his well-wishers to leave the region after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a mouthpiece of the Pakistani armed forces, distributed his music albums free of cost among the tribal people. The albums contained songs against extremism and militancy, which were produced under a contract with the ISPR.
